INTRODUCTION

VOCHTWERING all in one dampproof plaster mix for damp proofing, Falling Damp, Penetrating Damp and Rising Damp. Property maintenance is our core business, and over the years, we’ve experienced far too many headaches caused by damp, especially rising damp. We have used different methods to treat damp issues and found that all conventional damp proofing attempts fail after a very short while. VOCHTWERING was developed to address this specific need in the construction industry: eliminating rising damp and damp in total.

DAMP PROOFING

Three main types of damp can occur in buildings: Falling Damp, Penetrating Damp, and the most difficult to treat, Rising Damp.

Falling Damp

Can form when water ingresses the wall from the top, mainly because of damaged gutters or parapet walls where the plaster is damaged.

Penetrating Damp

Starts forming in the centre of a wall when water ingresses through cracks. Such cracks are usually formed as a result of plaster that cured too quickly or the plaster had not been mixed through properly.

Rising Damp

Is the worst type of damp, as it causes plaster to disintegrate inside the property wall. A tell-tale sign that rising damp is present is the white powdery substance called efflorescence that builds up on the wall surface, from the foundation upward and usually not higher than 1,2 m. There can be many reasons why rising damp occurs in a building, such as damaged water pipes underneath the foundation that causes a water build-up, failing or eroded damp proof course (DPC), and porous bricks used in an incorrect application.

Conventional damp-proofing way

Plaster and cement are porous products that absorb the moisture drawn up from the foundation through a wall – this is what you see as damp inside a property. Traditional methods to address damp issues, especially damage caused by rising damp, would be to chip or scrape loose flaking plaster, apply a bonding liquid, and then paint a damp-proof paint. This method can be very effective when treating light damp in the property but has shortcomings in eliminating severe damp problems.

THE SOLUTION – VOCHTWERING

No more Rising Damp with VOCHWERING
VOCHTWERING is a chemically modified product that prevents water from penetrating through the plaster, causing damp/moisture inside your building.
VOCHTWERING is a simple solution that your property maintenance contractor can use to treat severe damp of all types:
1. Determine the affected area and identify the type of damp.
2. Remove all plaster from the affected area, ensuring enough space is cleared around the damp area.
3. Make sure the work area is adequately cleaned.
4. Follow the instructions on the packaging, mix VOCHTWERING thoroughly, and then follow standard plastering procedures.
5. Allow the plastered area to dry for approximately nine days and then paint normally.
It cannot be any simpler. No other products and processes are required. All you need is packaged into one bag.

Why does it work?

VOCHTWERING is unique because the porosity equaliser (PX) used in the product reacts with the cement and plaster and causes the mixture to swell out slightly to fill all the pores as the plaster cures. Thus, the plaster has a barrier on the surface that cannot and does not absorb water, which renders your treated wall damp-proof.
VOCHTWERING looks like ordinary plaster and can be painted as you expect to paint a wall normally. It is an inexpensive solution that enables contractors to fix damp issues the first time and build their credibility in the construction industry.
